During the course, you will learn safe working practices at height, equipment handling, and teamwork in a scaffolding crew.
The program covers:
• Applying rules and standards in the scaffolding industry
• Proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Recognizing hazards and responding appropriately
• Responsibilities of a scaffolding assistant
• Correct use of tools, equipment, and transport methods
• Risks and safety measures when working at height
• Identifying scaffold components and their functions
• Preparing and supplying materials according to supervisor instructions
• Visual inspection of scaffold elements and identifying hazards
• Teamwork and communication on site
• Basic assembly and dismantling activities
Duration
The Scaffolding Assistant course with exam lasts 1 day and includes:
• Online theoretical instruction – 30 minutes
• Online theoretical exam – 30 minutes
• Practical instruction – 3 hours
• Practical exam – 1 hour (during practical training)
The theoretical instruction and exam must be completed before starting the practical part.
The maximum group size is 10 candidates (5 pairs) per instructor and examiner.
Each participant must:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a valid identity document (ID card or passport)
To participate in the practical training, you need:
• Personal protective equipment (helmet, safety glasses, work clothes, ankle-high safety shoes)
• Safety harness with lanyards
• Tools secured with lanyards to prevent falling from height
All equipment can be purchased on-site at the Bonapi Safety Shop.
Participants must be fully physically and mentally fit. Individuals with limb impairments or mobility limitations cannot participate. Full fitness is required to safely and effectively perform scaffolding work.
The online theoretical instruction and exam are available in the following languages:

The center has five fully equipped classrooms, a practical training yard, and a training hall.
The training ends with an online theoretical exam and a practical exam.
To obtain the SVWOH certificate, both parts must be successfully completed.
Initial requirements:
You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid identity document (ID card or passport).

Scaffolding built by professional scaffolders is essential for many construction projects. It ensures safety and support for workers at height and enables efficient work.
A scaffolding assistant helps prepare the worksite, sorts and prepares scaffold elements, supplies materials according to instructions, and supports the team during assembly and dismantling.
They are not allowed to build scaffolding independently. Their role is limited to assisting and supplying materials. This role is usually a stepping stone toward becoming a certified scaffolder according to Dutch guidelines (Richtlijn Steigers).
According to SVWOH certification, there are several levels:
• Scaffolding Assistant (Hulpmonteur Steigerbouw – HM)
• Scaffolder (Monteur Steigerbouw – MSB)
• First Scaffolder (1e Monteur Steigerbouw – EMSB)
• Inspector (Steigerinspecteur – IS)
• Foreman (Voorman Steigerbouw – VS)
To obtain the SVWOH certificate, you must complete the course and pass the exam.
The certificate is valid for 5 years. After this period, both theoretical and practical exams must be retaken.
Exams are updated regularly, so refreshing your knowledge is important before recertification. Certification is conducted according to SVWOH standards. The exams are carried out on behalf of SEWOH.
