Theoretical exam: 18 questions, 30 minutes, minimum 13 correct answers required to pass.
Practical exam: assessment of machine inspection, LMRA, and operational tasks.
Initial requirements:
A valid VCA certificate (or equivalent approved by the examination center) and a valid driving license category B, T or C are required. No prior operator experience is required.

The SOG certificate is valid for 5 years. Before it expires, you must complete a refresher course and pass the exam again.
