Vocational training courses in Poland or the Netherlands – a brief overview of the Dutch labour market

The Netherlands needs skilled workers. More and more companies are experiencing a shortage of skilled staff in their teams. Companies are therefore opening up to foreign workers, including Poles, for whom it is worthwhile to come to the Netherlands. Why? For the same work you do in Poland, in the land of tulips you will receive significantly higher pay and better working conditions.

What’s more, Poles are regarded here as reliable and skilled workers. That’s why it’s worth seizing this opportunity and enhancing your CV to find a job that will bring not only excellent pay but also job satisfaction. How can you do this? Choose vocational courses that will boost your skills and help you meet the requirements set by regulations and employers in the Netherlands.

First and foremost, you must hold a VCA certificate, which is the equivalent of Polish health and safety training. This is particularly important if you plan to work in high-risk sectors, such as the petrochemical, electrical, transport or working at heights industries. The list of professions where VCA certification is essential is considerably longer.

Forklift operators, aerial work platform operators and scaffolders are professions where pay is high. However, despite attractive financial conditions, many Dutch employers struggle to find reliable and qualified staff. This is linked, among other things, to economic growth and the development of industrial and construction infrastructure in the Netherlands.

Did you know that all you need is a good vocational course and you’ll be able to meet the requirements for these jobs? The only question is: which to choose – vocational courses in Poland or in the Netherlands?

Vocational courses in Poland or the Netherlands – why is the Netherlands the better choice?

In both countries, you’ll find vocational training programmes and courses with tempting offers. And if you’re on the verge of deciding to choose training in Poland, we say, “STOP! Think again!” We have been operating in the training sector for many years. We have therefore heard various stories from our students who regretted choosing Polish courses instead of opting for the Netherlands. Why?

Firstly, courses in the Netherlands are cheaper. Despite covering the same material and having the same exam format, both the training and the exam in Poland cost more. The same applies to resit exams. For example, during the VCA exam, the presence of an examiner accredited by the Dutch organisation SSVV (Stichting Samenwerken voor Veiligheid, or the Association for Safety Cooperation) is required. Their travel to countries such as Poland increases the cost of courses in that location.

Secondly, you need to be wary of fake certificates, which are rife on the internet. Below is a list compiled by the SSVV of companies that issue counterfeit documents in Poland. If you want to find out how to check whether your VCA certificate is genuine, take a look at our article ‘VCA, SCC certificates – courses and exams in Poland and the Netherlands’.

What’s more, the Netherlands does not recognise Polish certificates (e.g. VCA or forklift certificates), only Dutch ones. So even if you obtain such documents in Poland, you will need to obtain them again in the Netherlands.

That is why, if you want to find a good job and are keen to take courses that will enable you to obtain legal documents and qualifications accepted in the Netherlands, get in touch with us – Bonapi Training Centre in Spijkenisse.
